I don’t usually recomend buying anime disc by disc because it is usually too expensive and takes up a lot of space. If there is a Anime I really like, I don’t mind purchasing it when it is released as a complete set in a prefered think-pak edition to save on valuable shelf space. So anyways saw these anime sets advertised on buy.com today and they are pretty well priced. Spend over 25 and get free shipping.

Here is my quick review of the anime on that list I watched or partly saw that is on this list.

Gundam Wing – Would purchase. Probably one of the best gundam series I’ve seen.

Well we all heard about Warner Brothers dropping the HDDVD Format which was a huge blow to HDDVD. Warner Brothers has probably one of the biggest collection of titles available. Then you notice HDDVD players dropping in price like no other hoping to get more audience in a last ditch effort at life. Well before I was uncommitted still in either camp, but I might consider jumping into Blu-Ray now because of reports saying that ADV Films even will be going to Blu-Ray. That was probably the last nail in the coffin to HDDVD in my book and I might as well look into getting a PS3 soon.

Yeah so lately I have been meaning to write more anime postings, but I just don’t have the time to put the finishing touches on some posts I started. Though my friend who started blogging on a sub domain I gave her has some funny opinions. Not boring episodic blogs, but general opinions on series mixed in with her WOW jargon sometimes. I read at AnimeNewsNetwork that Newtype will cease publication. They say they have another magazine in the works, but Newtype will always have a special place in my heart. It was probably my first anime magazine I ever owned. I remember going to the 2002 Anime Expo (My first expo ever) and they were just starting to promote the magazine and I received their first issue ever there. I still have it till this day. Even though the magazine never really had legit reviews (it was owned by ADV after all), it did have lots of great pictures. Each magazine contained a great collection of anime/manga photos in every issue, and it did have interesting articles here and there. I thought it warranted the 10 dollar cover price. Goodbye Newtype USA I will miss you.

Judging from the previews not a whole lot of new shows to look forward to in the Winter lineup. I am looking forward to Gunslinger Girls mainly because I watched the first season and want to see what happens, Aria because I liked the first two seasons, H20 looks interesting and Rosario looks funny. Thats about it so far.

I am pretty sure everyone knows what Netflix is, but if you don’t it is basically an online DVD rental service where they will send you DVDs through the mail and there are no late fees. To get more DVDs just send them back as fast as you can. Some common rental plans are 1, 2, 3 DVDs out at a time for a set price a month. Thought I would just list out my personal top 5 favorite anime series in no particular order. The listed are series that are already complete. I won’t be counting any long running ones. The following series are ones where I liked them so much I bought them on DVD except for Ouran Host Club which hasn’t been released yet in the US and I can watch them over and over again.
